Was that it for Hamburger SV? The famous clock in Volksparkstadion is still ticking away. But the odds have risen dramatically that this is history in May.
After the derby defeat against Werder Bremen, the gap to VfL Wolfsburg on the first non-relegation place is eight points. Even the relegation rank, quasi an integral part of HSV DNA, is seven counts away.
Another defeat against the tables-16. FSV Mainz 05 next Saturday and the HSV would probably not be saved.
“We are the HSV, we have always managed,” said Hamburg striker André Hahn, although after the 0: 1 (0: 0) in the Weserstadion. But brisk slogans do not help the hamburgers any further. But the balance is simply too devastating.
Only four wins in 24 games, still no threesome under new coach Bernd Hollerbach and only 18 mielder törchen. These are the numbers of a drop-off.
“It’s just not enough right now”
“It’s just not enough at the moment,” board member Heribert Bruchhagen had to concede after the dedicated, sporty but limited appearance on the Weser. “If you want to survive in the class struggle, then you have to score once.”
André Hahn, Filip Kostic, Aaron Hunt and Bakery Jatta worked hard, but they did not get a 100% chance. Six shots from the goal showed the statistics at the end – no danger triggered by them.
Also in Bremen avenged again that the HSV did not improve in the winter break in the offensive. Although Bruchhagen declared again that the damp club had no money for it. The first descent of the club’s history will come to the once glorious HSV in the end but significantly more expensive.
HSV gets entangled in offside debate
That the defeat in Bremen was also sealed by a highly controversial goal, fits in with the demise of the six-time German champion.
The HSV professionals were in any case outraged, as they were seen on the TVs in the catacombs later scored as the own goal of Rick van Drongelen hits.
“This is offside,” scolded Kyriakos Papadopoulos and sent a swear word in the direction of referee Felix Zwayer afterwards.
In fact, one could come to the conclusion that Ishak Belfodil was offside. “Somebody has to explain to me how you can not decide on offside there,” Bruchhagen enthused.
“Then that also says something about the quality of those who sit in Cologne,” said Bruchhagen, looking at the video assistant Günter Perl. On Sunday he apologized for this attack.
Hollerbach also criticizes the referee
Hollerbach was indeed on the question “offside or not” not completely sure. For the HSV coach had “a clear foul” seen on van Drongelen.
That in turn judged referee Zwayer differently. “In the end, a correct decision has been made,” said the referee, who had to interrupt the game three times because of countless pyro-offenses of some HSV supporters.
The people of Bremen did not want to spend too much time with the discussions. They enjoyed the victory against the unloved neighbor. “That was a victory for the whole city,” said Matchwinner Belfodil. But Werder is far from being saved. Although the HSV is nine points back, the lead on 16th place is only two points.
Playfully, the green-whites also missed a lot. But nobody cares. “Second league, Hamburg is here”, it rang for minutes after the 108th Nordderby through the stadium. The likelihood that it was the last neighborhood duel for at least one season has been greater since Saturday than ever.
