The Danish national handball player Rasmus Lauge will leave the Bundesliga side SG Flensburg-Handewitt prematurely in the summer of 2019 by mutual agreement and move to the Hungarian top club Veszprem HC.
This informed the SG on Monday. The 26-year-old, whose contract with the German vice champion was limited until 2021, uses an agreed exit clause for this step.
“It’s always extremely sad when a player as good as Rasmus Lauge leaves our SG! The positive thing is that he will stay with us until 2019 and we have enough time to find a good successor,” said Flensburg manager Dierk Schmäschke ,
Coach Maik Machulla said: “Every player has to think for himself how he wants to shape his career, so we have to respect and accept his decision.” Lauge is currently with 123 goals in 22 league games the most successful scorer of North German.
Rasmus Lauge gave as reason for his change the high health burden in the Bundesliga. “I have had a lot of fun in the Bundesliga since 2013, but also suffered two very serious injuries, my body suffers from the very heavy burden of an incredible number of games and long journeys, and I have now got the opportunity to play in a league that a significantly lower burden, “said the backcourt player.
